Do you make your products in house?

Yes! We make all Kam Wai products in our facility and have since we started in 1991!

I’m new to this; what should I get?

The world is your oyster! We have products to suit most needs and likes so there is really no going wrong! Some of our most popular items are Ha Gow (a shrimp dumpling), Siu Mai (pork or pork & shrimp are the top choices), BBQ Pork Buns and our very own Vegan Mushroom Dumplings. Pick something that looks good and start exploring!


How do I cook or prepare dim sum?

There is no one way to prepare dim sum and we encourage experimenting! To get started though you might want some guidance: that’s why we built this page to help you figure out the basics of dim sum cooking! We have outlined in detail the three main methods of traditional dim sum preparation: Steaming, Boiling and Panfrying.

How long will the product last in the fridge or freezer?

Each product will be a bit different but there are some general rules you can follow when in doubt. For refrigerated items (For instance steamed bao or zhong [sticky rice wraps]), it is best to consume within 3-4 days, or to freeze if it cannot be finished in that time. Frozen items, such as dumplings, can be kept for up to 3 months time, but we recommend consuming within 1.5 months for the best tasting product. Store opened product in an air-tight, freezer safe container to prevent freezer burn or drying out the product.

Do you use MSG in your products?

The short answer is Yes! We do add a small amount of MSG to a lot of our products to complement other flavours. MSG is present in many of your favourite foods, including restaurant dishes, packaged foods, and naturally in items like mushrooms and tomatoes.

Do you have vegetarian or vegan products?

Yes! We offer a range of products and try to meet as many dietary needs as we can. We have an expanding offering of plant based and vegetarian products, including our Vegan Mushroom Dumplings, a favourite among our customers and staff alike!

Do you have gluten-free products?

The short answer is yes; we have a variety of products that do not contain any ingredients with gluten! However it’s a bit more complicated than that.

Because of the prevalence of wheat ingredients in a lot of our products, we cannot guarantee a 100% gluten free experience;. We do our best to control allergens and keep certain products gluten free, but because of the prevalence of certain ingredients in our products, it cannot be guaranteed, and is up to individuals to assess the risk for themselves.

Are your products allergy friendly?

We do our best to be aware of allergen contamination as we are making our products and we try to make sure we have options to fit every dietary need as best we can. We unfortunately cannot guarantee 100% that no allergens are present in any products, but do what we can to minimize it.

People with allergies to sesame, soy or wheat should be especially cautious and check with our staff, as these allergens are present in a large number of our products.


Do you teach dumpling classes?
